This dashcam footage is an alarming reminder of just how quickly things can go wrong on the road. How a moment’s lapse in concentration combined with highspeed put an abrupt end to this drivers peaceful early morning start.
A peaceful start with an abrupt end
Our customer was using the VCS 2500 -4G connected camera on this sunny morning, driving along the A47 between Leicester and Peterborough. This meant as soon as the incident happened his depot was automatically notified of the impact and able to view the dashcam footage and send help. Thankfully no-one was injured. Our systems enable the depot and your driver to be notified of distractions, fatigue and vulnerable road users.
The clarity of this dashcam footage is another reason the VCS 2500 makes a great DVS compliant camera. DVS (Driver Vision Standard) is a safety measure for HGVs. It requires operators of lorries over 12 tonnes gross vehicle weight to obtain a safety permit before entering and operating in most of Greater London. Please click here for further information DVS Compliance.
Quick impact 11 second dashcam footage
The viewpoint is taken from the front dashcam of our client’s vehicle. The driver fails to see stationary dark vehicle waiting in the middle of the road to turn right. The glass shattering impact drags the vehicles across to the opposite side of the road.
Vehicle Camera Systems blog policy:
We never publish dash cam footage if anyone was injured in the incident. We think it helps to know that when you watch our videos.
